Application/Enrollment
–
-
Students should either come to the BACC office or see their home
high school guidance counselor to obtain a registration packet
for enrollment. The
student needs to complete the forms and obtain a local school
signature (usually a guidance counselor or principal) and
parent/guardian signatures on the forms included in the packet.
The completed forms need to be in the BACC office along
with the tuition payment by the required due date.
Student registration will not be accepted without
payment.
Credit
–
-
BACC does not award credit.
Students enrolled in the class earn a grade for the
classroom work and a grade for the paid work-site experience.
Passing grades are communicated to the students’ home
high schools who in turn award credits based on the grades.
Typically each school has awarded a ˝ credit for the
classroom portion grade and ˝ credit for the work-site portion
of the course.
-
Students must earn a passing grade in the classroom portion to
be eligible for the ˝ credit work-site portion.
If a student fails the classroom portion of the course,
no passing grade will be awarded for the work-site experience.
Grades will be withheld pending all payments made in full
and return of textbooks and other materials that are the
property of the BACC or compensation for any lost or damaged
items.
Course Structure
–
-
The classroom work will include reading assignments, quizzes,
tests, and projects.
-
The work-site experience must be a paid work experience at an
established, appropriate place of business.
Babysitting is not an acceptable work assignment.
Students must work for a business located in the BACC
service area (McLean – DeWitt County
area). Students are
expected to obtain their own jobs for the purpose of the course.
Students may not be employed by a relative or member of
their immediate household without the instructor’s express
permission.
-
Students should contact the BACC office or their teacher before
any hours are credited toward the work site experience.
The work site must be pre-approved by the BACC teacher or
administration.
-
To achieve a passing grade for the work site, students will be
expected to maintain a log of their days/hours worked signed by
their employer and the total number of hours worked must be at
least 160 clock hours.
The required log must be submitted to the teacher
according to timelines given by the teacher.
-
Students will also be
expected to have their employers and/or immediate supervisors
complete work-site evaluations that will be submitted to the
teacher.
Attendance and
Participation –
-
The length of the course will be 8 weeks.
The course will meet one class session per week for 3
hours.
First
class session attendance
is mandatory.
Students are expected to be in class on time and
participate actively in class. Attendance will be recorded each
class session and reported to the BACC office.
Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late to class
will be assessed one absence.
Students who know in advance that they will be running a
few minutes late or other issues related to attendance should
contact the teacher well in advance before class begins to
discuss the situation and to make arrangements for missed class
items.
-
All rules and expectations BACC has outlined for students
attending school during the regular school calendar year must be
observed by students attending Summer Internship.
BACC Student Handbooks will be distributed the first
class session and reviewed with students.
Students must attend their Summer Internship classroom
session in order to attend their work-site related to the class
BACC
