Part I Chapter 13:
Telephone Usage

The high school is served by trunk lines and a private automatic exchange. Because of this service, school telephones which use the switchboard cannot be connected to computers at any time. There is only one number listed in the directory (828-5201).

  • Inside Call: all numbers have four digits – lift receiver and dial desired extension number – should be room number, i.e. 1108 or 1223 or 1023

  • Outside Call: if you are using a classroom phone – dial 9 and then your number. Administrative phones require you to dial 5 and then your number

  • Voice Mail: if established, you may go to any phone inside the building, dial 5454 and when you hear the “general school message”, press*key, then dial your voice mail box. You will then be prompted to enter your password. Follow the system prompts to listen to your messages, change your greeting or change your password. All passwords are set at 0000, but can and should be changed by the user. Please remember, your mailbox # is yours alone and should not be shared as calls will be placed to this number if you are unavailable.

  • Long Distance Access: Long distance calling is limited to department offices, and lead teachers’ classrooms. To make a long-distance call you need to dial 8 – area code – and the number – followed by your access code if calling from a phone other than an administrative model. Using administrative phones, you need only dial 5 – area code – number – and your access code.

  • Calls to Switchboard: Dial 5101 to reach the switchboard in the main office – you will not hear the call ring – wait for the operator to answer.
