It is recognized that the optimum
environment for learning can be maintained most easily by the teacher
who is regularly assigned to a particular class. However, it is also
recognized that teachers will be absent from time to time due to
illness, school business, or personal business.
Teachers should not contact substitute teachers and make
arrangements for them to substitute on a given day. This will be done by
the receptionist.
Please consult Appendix B concerning Leave Policies and obtaining a
Substitute
Some Reminders in cases of illness:
- In the event you are unable to
report for work, YOU NEED TO CALL 828-4927 BY 6:30 a.m. to leave a
recorded message with your name, reason for absence, whether it is for
the full day or part of a day.
- In the event you become ill during
the normal workday, the administrative office must be notified
immediately. Under no circumstance should arrangements be made with
another teacher to take your classes if illness forces you to leave
school during the normal workday. Personnel in the main office will
provide a substitute for your classes.
- Adequate lesson plans and Substitute
Teacher Packet must be provided for a substitute teacher. The plans
should promote focused student attention for the length of the period.
Attendance sheets and seating charts should be easily accessible.
- Lesson plans, which are a few pages
in length, can be faxed to the FAX LINE (829-0178). Teachers with home
computers, modems, and fax software can do this. Lesson plans may also
be emailed to the main office at hospelhornm@district87.org or
busingv@district87.org.
