Part II Chapter 12:
Food in the Classroom

The general rule is that food is not to be eaten in the classroom by students. Teachers who use a treat as an incentive may exercise professional judgment. In foreign language classes, an occasional “cultural experience” involving food can be a positive and appropriate part of the curriculum.

Teachers should not sell food or candy as a fund-raising method during class. Students seen selling candy in class should be stopped – first by a warning, then by having the candy confiscated. The confiscated candy should be turned over directly to the club sponsor.
