Part II Chapter 6:
Procedure for Requesting a Student from Study Hall

  • All students who are assigned to a study hall must initially report to the study hall each day even if they have permission to be with a counselor or another teacher.

  • Study hall teachers must take attendance before a student signs out on the sign-out sheet with the Permit to Leave (pink pass) form.  The time at which the student left the study hall must be noted on the Permit to Leave form.

  • When a student has permission to be with a teacher or in guidance in lieu of a study hall, they are to remain with that teacher for the entire period.

  • Passes to the library may be written from study hall.  Students need to have a specific project they are working on.  If the library is closed, or has one or two classes scheduled for that period, the librarian may send the student back to study hall.  Students from study hall who abuse the library may be restricted.  The restriction can range from a requirement that a teacher specifically verify that the student needs to use the library for an assignment, and in extreme cases, the student may forfeit the privilege of using the library during study hall.  The librarian will collect the passes from study hall and return them to the study hall proctor indicating any problems that may have occurred.

  • In all cases, only one student’s name shall be used on a pass.
