For short-term cases,
teachers will retain students on their class rolls, but they are not
responsible for reporting attendance of such students. For these cases,
these procedures will be followed:
-
The homebound
teacher will consult with the counselor/teachers regarding the
student’s program of studies (homebound staffing). Assignments should
be prepared for the student and delivered to the homebound teacher.
-
The counselor and/or
homebound teacher will communicate with instructors in order to secure
assignments and to determine the rate of progress necessary in each of
the student’s classes. Instructors will be asked, periodically, to
furnish the homebound teacher with added assignments and examinations
so that the progress of the homebound student can be compared with
that of those students regularly enrolled in classes.
-
The homebound
teacher will report attendance to the Attendance Office Assistant.
-
The Office Assistant
in the Guidance Office will notify the high school instructors of the
date homebound instruction is to begin and the date the student will
be expected to return to class.
-
The homebound
teacher will complete the “Homebound Teacher Report” and
forward it to the student’s counselor at nine-week intervals and/or at
the time the student returns to the regular classroom program. The
counselor will forward the report to the classroom teacher; grades
will be averaged and reported on grade sheets by the regular teacher.
