Part III Chapter 13:
Long Term Cases

In some instances, a student may need to be out of school for an extended length of time (for close to a semester or more).  When this is necessary, these procedures are to be followed:

  • The counselor consults with the Assistant Principal who assigns a special section number for each course the student is taking and lists the name of the homebound teacher.

  • The homebound teacher will communicate with instructors so that general class outlines are followed and every effort can be made to help the student keep up with his regular classes.

  • The homebound teacher is responsible for reporting attendance to the Attendance Office Assistant and grades to the Guidance Office.

  • The Guidance Office Assistant will notify the high school instructors of the date homebound instruction will begin and the date the student will return to class.

  • The homebound teacher will complete the “Homebound Teacher Report” and forward it to the student’s counselor at nine-week intervals and/or at the time the student returns to the regular classroom program.  The report will then be given to the Guidance Chairperson who will complete grade sheets for the students, and forward the report to the regular classroom teacher.
