Part V Chapter 3:
Handling of Money

Cash transactions require special care.  No staff member is to accept cash or money without issuing a receipt. For purposes of this rule, a receipt may be:

  • A sequentially numbered ticket with a record of the starting and ending numbers for the tickets

  • A written receipt from a receipt book (available in supply/mailroom)

  • A check from the original contributor payable to Bloomington High School

  • A cash register receipt from the school store

  • A letter to a donor or advertiser acknowledging the contribution or payment

  • Other form of receipt approved by the Principal (AD may approve for athletic activities)

Exception:  some teachers sell pencils or other small items at cost.  An alternative is to loan items to students in exchange for collateral.  In cases where teachers sell items for ten cents or under, a receipt is not required.  However, teachers are expected to have some record showing how much was colleted and that the collected money was used to replenish the supply.  Such a record should be updated at least once a month.

No cash is to be issued without the collection of a receipt.
