Part VI Chapter 2: |
|
Student clubs that have religious purposes are permitted as part of the free exercise of religion. They must follow the normal procedure to apply for club status. As a club, the group can make brief announcements of meetings, post announcements of meetings, do fund-raising, and be listed in the Student/Parent Handbook as a club. However, such clubs must be student-initiated and not faculty-initiated. Notices, PA announcements, and literature should be written so that it is clear that the group is student-initiated. In addition, school employees can be present at religious meetings, but only in a non-participatory capacity. Non-school persons may not direct, conduct, control, or regularly attend these meetings.
