Part VIII Chapter 5:
Building Evacuation Procedure (Fire Drill, etc.)

• Classrooms and offices – At the direction of the teacher, and using directions posted in the classroom, proceed to the proper exit door and follow general directions above.

• Corridors – If the fire alarm sounds during passing periods, all personnel should proceed quietly to the nearest exit and continue on the sidewalk to a point of safety clear of the building.

• Auditorium – At the direction of the person in charge and teacher, proceed to exit according to auditorium evacuation plan and follow general directions above.

• Gymnasium –

  • Classes  - at directions of the teacher, proceed to nearest exit and follow general directions above.

  • Group meetings – at the direction of person in charge, proceed to the nearest exit and follow general directions above.

• Procedures after leaving building – Posted in each classroom is a notice designating the exit to be used in cases of building evacuation.  Teachers should familiarize themselves with the proper fire exit(s) for their classrooms and instruct students.  Teachers identified below in parentheses are assigned to assist at the exits with any unforeseen emergencies.  They should be familiar with the building evacuation from their exit.

Exit #1 – (Guidance Personnel) Proceed to sidewalk east of north gym and continue to a point east of the south gym.

 

Exit #2 – (G214 and G216) Proceed to sidewalk west of gym and continue to a point west of the south gym.

 

Exit #3 – (Library Personnel) Proceed west and turn left to sidewalk west of gym and continue to a point west of the south gym.

 

Exit #4 – (P126 and P139) Proceed north on sidewalk around building to sidewalk across from Exit #6 and north to a point near Empire Street.

 

Exit #5 – (P24 and P39) Proceed around the building to the right and continue on sidewalk across from exit #6 to a point near the Empire Street sidewalk.

 

Exit #6 – (P147 and P145) Proceed to sidewalk directly north of exit and continue to a point near the Empire Street sidewalk.

 

Exit #7 – (Study Hall Teacher) Proceed to sidewalk west of parking lot and continue to a point near Empire Street sidewalk.

 

Exit #8 – (A153 and A168) Proceed to sidewalk west of parking lot and continue to a point near Empire Street sidewalk.

 

Exit #9 – (A165 and A160) Proceed to east-west sidewalk by driveway north of building and await further instructions.

 

Exit #10 – (A169 and A170) Proceed to a sidewalk east of the north gym and continue to a point east of the south gym.
