Disciplinary Guidelines - Types of Discipline - Expulsions

Students who engage in gross misconduct or disobedience may be expelled from school for any length of time from a few days to the maximum allowed by State Law.

  1. Before an expulsion occurs the student's parent/guardian will be requested to appear at a meeting of the Board of Education, or a meeting with a hearing officer appointed by the Board, to discuss the child's behavior. Such request shall be made by certified mail and shall state the time, place, and purpose of the meeting.

  2. The Board, or the hearing officer appointed by the Board, at such meeting shall state the reasons for the expulsion and the date on which it is to become effective.
