School Policies - Dress
and Grooming, Peronal Appearance, Student Attire

The primary purpose of the school program
is education.
Students in their manner of dress and grooming must be
considerate of their fellow students so as not to distract them
or be disruptive to the school program.
Each student should strive to maintain a manner of dress
appropriate to classroom atmosphere and reflective of individual
pride in self and school.
Specific dress rules include:

Students shall not wear clothing or other apparel which
creates a concern for safety.

Students should not wear clothing that suggests themes of
profanity, tobacco use, alcohol/drugs, and promiscuity or
gang association.

Sleeveless shirts or shirts exposing the midriff or
excessively low necklines are not permitted during the
school day.

Gloves and head coverings including, but not limited to,
hats, caps, sunglasses, picks, combs, do-rags, headbands,
bandanas, and hoods should not be worn/carried on school
grounds during the school day.
If taken by a teacher or administrator, the article
will be returned to the parent/guardian.

Students are encouraged not to wear jackets or coats during
the school day.
Lockers are provided for the storage of these items.

Students are encouraged not to carry heavy backpacks and/or
oversized sport bags into classrooms.

In their
dress and grooming, students (aided by parental guidance) must
accept the responsibility to themselves and their school of
assisting in the maintenance of reasonable standards of health,
safety, sanitation, and decency on school premises.
In a student’s dress and grooming, he must take into
consideration classes where additional safety measures are
required, such as industrial education shops, laboratories,
physical education and art classes, and in general those classes
where inappropriate dress or grooming present a danger to the
health or safety of the students or others present.
In the interests of safety, students must use footwear
with rubber or hard soles.
Students
inappropriately dressed may be directed to change clothes, be
sent home, or be required to wear loaned replacements.
