DECATUR -- Senior Brandon Holtz and junior Alex Titlow made sure the Bloomington High School boys golf team retained possession of the Big 12 Conference trophy for the third straight year.

Holtz fired a 5-under-par 67 to win medalist honors and Titlow (72) won a four-man playoff for second place Monday at Fairies Park Golf Course to help the Purple Raiders to a winning score of 362, 19 strokes better than runner-up Normal Community (381).

"It was a great tournament for us," said BHS coach Rich Gordon. "To be 2-over-par against good competition was really good.

"Titlow, our sixth man, started with a 72 and that set the tone for us all day. That's 10 under his average. He won his Bloomington High School letter (Monday)."

BHS's Dustin Thompson (73) and David Strand (74) each lost playoffs to finish seventh and ninth, respectively.

Pacing NCHS were Stu Wallace (fifth with a 72) and T.J. Zalesiak (tied for 10th with a 75).

Normal West (382) was third, one stroke behind NCHS. The Wildcats put three golfers in the top 10: Kyle Bragg (won a playoff to place sixth with a 73) and Brandon Anderegg and David Shelton (tied for 10th with 75s).
