RAIDER COACHING STAFF

  Steve Clapp

Coach Clapp enters his fifth season as Head Coach of the Purple Raiders. He has bachelor degrees from Illinois State University ('99) in Physical Education and Lincoln Christian College ('95) in Education.  He was a four year letter winner in basketball and baseball.  Guided the Raiders (22-8) to the 2007 BIG 12 Championship after finishing second outright in 2005 and 2006. Led the Bloomington GOLD 18U team to the NABF Midwest Regional Championship and a berth in the 2007 NABF World Series in Jackson, Mississippi..  Led the 2002 Junior Bats to a state runner up finish and 2003 Junior Bats to the state championship.  Guided the 2004 Bloomington Gold to a 3rd place state finish and the 05 & 06 Bloomington Gold to runner up finishes in the NABF Midwest Regional. 

 Evan Leathers

Coach Leathers enters his third season coaching with the Purple Raiders baseball program.  He also serves as an assistant coach with the Bloomington Junior High baseball program and the varsity basketball program at BHS.

  Travis Drury

The Raiders are excited to have Coach Travis Drury returning for his second season with the BHS' program.  Coach Drury is currently substitute teaching.  He was a member of the Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin baseball program.  Travis has a journalism degree from the University of Illinois and is currently working on a second bachelor's at Illinois State University in Communication Education.  He will be student teaching in the Spring of '08 at NWCHS.

 

  Jake Owens

BHS is also excited to return Coach Jake Owens in his second year of service with the Purple Raiders baseball program.  Coach Owens is beginning his first year teaching at Bloomington Junior High.  He is teaching Math.  Coach Owens also serves as the head baseball coach for the BJHS 6th/7th grade team.
