RAIDER COACHING STAFF

  Steve Clapp
Coach Clapp enters his ninth season as Head Coach of the Purple Raiders. He has bachelor degrees from Illinois State University ('99) in Physical Education and Lincoln Christian University ('95) in Christian Education and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the American College of Education (2010).  He was a four year letter winner in basketball and baseball.  Guided the Raiders to their sixth consecutive 20 win season and fourth Regional Championship in the last 6 years (2006, 2008, 2009, 2011).   Coach Clapp also coaches the Bloomington GOLD summer traveling team.  Guided the Bloomington GOLD 18U team to a 3rd place finish in the  2008 NABF World Series in Jackson, Mississippi.  Coach Clapp has coached over 75 players going on to the collegiate level and had 6 players drafted by major league organizations.   Travis Drury
Coach Travis Drury returns for his sixth season with the BHS' program. Coach Drury teaches English at Bloomington Junior High School.   He was a member of the Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin baseball program.  Coach Drury also is the head coach for the Bloomington Blue 16U summer traveling team.  Travis also has a journalism degree from the University of Illinois.

Christopher Newsome
The Raiders would like to wish former pitching Coach Christopher Newsome the best of luck as he has taken the head coaching position at Amboy High School.  Coach Newsome worked with the BHS program for three years.  Thanks for your time and commitment to the Purple Raider program.  You will be missed!
