HOWARD SAAR FIELD
BACKGROUND INFO
BHS' baseball field, which was dedicated in 2004, is named after former Bloomington baseball coach Howard Saar. Mr. Saar was the coach during the team's 1953 2nd place finish at the state tournament. The ballpark was renovated in the summer of 2005. The outfield was elevated nearly 5 feet in certain areas and the fences moved back 60 feet. This spring a new mound and hitting surface built on over 350 clay bricks was also installed. A big thank you to BHS parent Ron Juris in assisting with the new mound and hitting surface.
