Brown, Rylee selected to all-state team

CHAMPAIGN -- Bloomington High School quarterback Andre Brown and Metamora defensive lineman Rich Rylee have been named to the 67th Champaign News-Gazette All-State Team.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Brown and the 6-4, 280-pound Rylee are among 33 players on the first team.

Eight area players were named to the Special Mention 100. Bloomington representatives were running back James Wade, offensive lineman Andrew Kernes and defensive back Justin Harrison.

Pontiac honorees were running back Jake Cunningham and linebacker Buck Casson. Tremont defensive lineman Luke Stuber and defensive back Jerad Litherland earned special mention as did Dwight linebacker Cory Harbor.

Seven University of Illinois recruits made the team including Thornton Fractional South tailback Pierre Thomas, Champaign Centennial defensive lineman Jay Ramshaw, Hinsdale Central quarterback Brad Bower, Champaign Central linebacker J Leman, East St. Louis defensive lineman Torrey Nichols, Bolingbrook running back A.J. Johnson and Downers Grove South offensive lineman Kevin Gage.
