Cold-shooting BHS girls fall to MacArthur

A case of poor field-goal shooting proved disastrous for Bloomington as host Decatur MacArthur knocked off the Raiders 57-38 in a Big 12 contest.

Bloomington started slow but trailed just 23-15 at the half before the Generals outscored the Raiders 25-10 in the third quarter to pull out to a 48-25 lead.

“We just came out flat and not ready to play,” said BHS coach Sondra Sisson. “We had chances, but we just couldn’t finish and you’re not going to beat too many teams shooting like we did.”

The Raiders made just 12 of 39 field goal attempts for 28 percent shooting and were 5 of 8 from the free throw line.

Teasha Harris had 13 points, two assists and two steals to lead Bloomington (7-11, 5-3) while Shaneice Bell added 10 points. Amanda Hainlen led BHS in rebounding with 10 while Brooke Holtz had eight points and a team-high four assists.

Crystal Zeigler scored 17 points to lead Decatur MacArthur (13-7, 6-2).

“Shaneice Bell had a great second half and showed a lot of leadership for us out there,” Sisson added. “We have to find a common factor to play consistently well and together. We have three weeks to figure it out.”
