BHS girls open strong, then hang on to beat

The Bloomington High School girls basketball team blitzed to a 29-11 lead after one quarter and survived a late Mahomet-Seymour run to earn a 62-57 nonconference victory Tuesday night at the Robert Frank Sports Complex. “We got out to a fast start,” BHS coach Sondra Sisson said. “We played incredible in the first quarter.” The Purple Raiders were outscored 46-33 over the final three quarters. Kendra Gay paced BHS (5-5) with 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Teasha Harris tied a career-high with 19 points and had five steals. Amanda Hainlen added nine points. The Bulldogs (6-4) were paced by Dani Bunch’s 18 points. Kelly Thompson and Lauren Bosch each had 11. |
