Bloomington 63, Mattoon 56: Amanda Hainlen netted a team-high 14 points and Allie Veitengruber provided a spark off the bench as Bloomington (4-4, 4-0) remained undefeated in the Big 12 Conference with a league win at the Robert Frank Sports Complex.

BHS seemed to have the game in hand after a 23-7 run in the third quarter provided the Raiders with a 46-32 cushion entering the final period. Mattoon (2-6, 0-3) fought back to within three points in the fourth quarter but the Raiders were able to secure the win by making 11 of 13 foul shots down the stretch.

“Hainlen had her strongest performance of the season,’’ said BHS coach Sondra Sisson. “She played a complete game, and Allie Veitengruber is a hard-nosed kid that works hard every practice. She really gave the team a big spark with her two points and five rebounds.”

Hainlen also collected a team-high 10 rebounds to go with four steals for BHS. Kendra Gay added 12 points and five assists while Shaneice Bell chipped in 11 points.

Mackenzie Floyd and Jenna Spitz paced Mattoon with 14 points each.
