Chasing Green
Emma Hoop
We sit together under the night sky
And look at the bright stars
I can see them reflected in your eyes
Holes to see through, orbs of green
Space flickers between us like a ghost
And conceals the course to your heart
Your ripped and ragged heart
Is a threatening gray sky
Guilt shadows you like a ghost
Tonight you could care less about the stars
The grass beneath her feet is a soft green
But she gazes through glazed eyes
His sunken hollowed eyes
Betray the way his heart
Is torn His face tinged a pale green
Under the bright breezy sky
Together we will pretend that the stars
Are out and that we are not yet ghosts
Frequently plagued by a ghost
Of past love that seeps from haunted eyes
Everything is harder without stars
A nightmare matter of my heart
Giant jungle under blue sky
Huge choking vines of green
A violent outbreak of green
Feeds convincing lies to your ghost
This evening’s cold, white, winter sky
Shows off your jealous eyes
Forcing me to remember your icy heart
And the lack of light from the stars
Instinctively wishing for stars
Letting the day fade to green
Follow my head and forget my heart
Distancing myself from your ghost
The torture obvious in my sad eyes
Staring at the sky
Sky peppered thick with dense stars
Eyes shiny bright and grass luscious green
Ghost that never leaves my lonely heart
