Crack the throttle and begin
Travis M. Bradford
Dust, gas, and oil, knobby tires tearing up the soil
4-stroke engines screaming, polished aluminum gleaming
Red bike slicing, knobby tires dicing
In, through, and around, the silence welcomes sounds
Push it faster, grab the throttle and twist it
Coming in hot, tap the brake, NOT! Don’t hesitate
Get up on it, twist it! Feel the gravity and resist it
Trees, rocks, roots, ruts, mudbogs, and streams
Full throttle races, dancing side to side
Floating, standing, sitting never quitting
Clutching, gasing braking, never mistaking
Burning, turning, constantly yearning for the power trapped within
Crack the throttle and begin
Hold on tight, it can get shifty, the unyielding power of a 250
This happens everyday, ‘cause boys like us must play
So feel the friction, as I satisfy my addiction!
