Dreams

Mari Fike

She had dreams every night
Once she closed her eyes they appeared
Swirls of colors and wonders
If you could see them, they would be quite a sight
She had dreams every night
The bright colors started to fade
The wonders became wilder
The tress and stars produced more shade
She had images every night
Her breath became ragged
Creatures of no origins crawled
The dreams were no more
She had images every night
Memories from long past
Threatened to consume her
That image just seemed to last
She had nightmares every night
She was being chased about
Falling off the cliff
Into the clutches of the unspeakable
She had nightmares every night
Once she closed her eyes they appeared
Swirls of teeth and blood
If you could see them, they would be quite a sight
