This guide has been developed by the administration of Bloomington High School.  Its purpose is to provide information about the over 200 courses which will be offered at Bloomington High School during the 2009-2010 school year.  The guide is intended to help students and their parents become better acquainted with the content of specific courses and to aid them in the decision making process which will be taking place during registration.  Additional academic regulations are published in the Student/Parent Handbook published in August.

BHS Mission Statement

The Mission of Bloomington High School is to prepare students for the challenges of a demanding global society.  This responsibility is shared by faculty, staff, parents/guardians, the community, and -- most importantly -- students.  We believe in providing educational equity for our dynamic and diverse population.  As responsible citizens, our students will face challenges that require increasingly complex problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt and apply knowledge.  Accordingly, our responsibility is to assist all students in mastering the knowledge and skills for successful independent and lifelong learning.  Further, we help students acquire effective communication skills needed for individual interaction and collaboration.  Finally, we accept the responsibility to inspire our students to achieve their full potential.

Declaration of Non-Discrimination

No student, employee, or applicant for employment shall, on the basis of age, race, color, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, or disability be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity.  Correspondence concerning these issues may be addressed to the Principal's office.
