Our BJHS and BHS art students have created pinwheels to participate in the Pinwheels of Peace Project. The pinwheels were on display along Locust Street on Wednesday, Sept. 21st.

Pinwheels of Peace are heart-felt messages handwritten by children in their primary language on the petals of pinwheels and delivered to children of any global region. As the pinwheels blow in the wind, their messages are fulfilled.

The Pinwheels of Peace Project began in December 2001. Over 1,000 pinwheels have been dispersed from San Diego, CA, Los Angeles, CA, to Bali, Indonesia, Baghdad, Iraq, New York City, NY, and back again with astounding success! The positive effects of the children creating their messages and those receiving the pinwheels shares an overwhelming response that giving and receiving positive affirmations gives you a sense of belonging to something bigger than one's self, it is a feeling of connectedness at a very deep level.

The youths´ high level of enthusiasm, compassion, and artistic expression for this peace project has been very inspirational and they know that by taking action now, they have an enormous opportunity to make true, lasting social change in this world.
