2011 Summer Band Program

 

Summer band begins June 6 and ends June 23. There will be an evening concert performed on Thursday, June 23 at 6 pm in Franklin Square along with the Bloomington Community Band. Bands rehearse Monday through Thursday.  All rehearsals will be held at Bloomington Junior High School.  Staff will include Mark Day and Max Chernick.  Several of our top band students from Bloomington High School will also be acting as teaching assistants. 

 

Students will work on technique, reviewing and/or learning scales and arpeggios, rhythm charts, music theory concepts and sight-reading in addition to large group instruction.

 

The bands are:

Intermediate Band                          Students entering 6th grade

Advanced Band                                Students entering 7th and 8th grades

 

The schedule is:

Intermediate Band                          9:00-10:15am

Advanced Band                                10:30-11:45 am

 

Tuition is $50 for the 3-week session if received by THURSDAY, May 13th.   If received between May 13 and May 31, tuition increases to $60.  No registration forms will be accepted after May 27.  There will be no written confirmation of acceptance into the program.  All District 87 music students are automatically accepted.

Please write dates, times and location for the summer music program on your calendar.  Please note that it is not possible to reduce the fee due to vacations, conflicting summer camps or absences due to illness.  No refunds will be given after the session begins.  Staff reserves the right to cancel any section and issue refunds due to low enrollment totals.
