Review:
This book is a great book! It stars a spunky young girl named Rosemary Hood whose mother recently got murdered. Most of the book takes place in Sherwood Forest, but some of this piece of literature occurs in a town called Nottingham. Anyway, Rosemary takes under the assumed name Rowan and pretends to be a boy. Why? Well, now that her Aelf mother was murdered, Rowan seeks her father who is Robin Hood and she doesn't believe her father will accept her as a girl. This may seem stupid to you, but in the time when the story takes place, girls were considered less important than boys. One really interesting thing that happens in the novel is when Rowan comes across her sidekick, companion and dog, Tykell. It all starts when she's cooking her supper (at night, of course) in the woods, when she see's Ty's eyes in some nearby brush. Thinking it's a vicious wolf planning on making her its prey; she draws her bow and shoots a crude arrow at him. The "wolf" jumped out of the bushes and snapped the arrow straight out of the air, wagging its tail in pride. After bringing the arrow back to Rowan, she realizes that this wolf is her friend and plays fetch with him. From then on, the newly named Tykell follows her everywhere. The story is fantastic for anyone who loves medieval things or Robin Hood. This is a fabulous book and I would recommend it to anyone. I hope this has moved you to check it out yourself!
