Wrestlers Prepare to Defend Title!

The Bloomington Jr. High Wrestling Team is preparing to defend their 2007 IESA State Wrestling  Championship.  How are they going to do that?

"We are having open mats every Sunday and Wednesday from 6-7pm in the High School Wrestling Room" says coach Mosier.  "The ones who have shown up are working hard, but we need more people up there."

This years squad has the chance to repeat as champions but find several good teams challenging them for the top spot. "Darien Eisenhower has most of their medalists returning as well as a champion coming back from last season.  New Lenox Liberty and Parkside will always be in the hunt as well", coach Mosier stated.  "We have to be ready and work hard this year because everyone wants to beat Bloomington.  Our kids must realize that they can be the first back to back champs in a long time...it is a chance to make history."

Bloomington brings back a lot of state and sectional qualifiers from last year, but will rely heavily on the 6th and 7th graders to fill the voids in the starting line-up.  "Our coaching staff is really looking for those 6th and 7th graders who will break out and have a good year.  We need them to step up and contribute to our team this year.

  NCAA NOTICES BJHS WRESTLING!
As a former college wrestler, coach Mosier has called upon NCAA athletes and coaches to give BJHS the national attention the team deserves.

National Champion Ben Askren from the University of Missouri has sent several autographed posters wishing the knights good luck on the 2008 season.  Head coaches from Cornell College, Purdue, U.S. Naval Academy, Columbia, University of Virginia, and Mizzou all have hand written letters to the BJHS wrestling team.  Those letters are proudly displayed outside the gymnasium.

Team Returns 7 qualifiers and 2 placers!

Johnson, Bee spearhead 2008 team!
On paper the team to beat this year in the IESA is Bloomington.  Returning state qualifiers include Forrest Bishop, Bracky Kruse, Parker Johnson, Alex Alvis, Alex Bee, Lee Brewer, and Demetrius West.

Of the returning state qualifiers Parker Johnson and Alex Bee are the medalists from last year.  Johnson took 2nd place while Bee took 4th respectively.

"I think the goal of the qualifiers is to bring home a medal, and the returning medalists should have their eyes on the state championship.  Their hard work and dedication will determine where they are at the end of the season.
