District 87 Bilingual Program
District 87 provides a bilingual education program for native Spanish speakers who are English language learners. This program is housed at Bent Elementary School. Bilingual students are placed in classrooms with highly qualified Bilingual education teachers. In bilingual classrooms, students are taught in both Spanish and English. In this way, the students are able to build their proficiency with the English language without falling behind in core academic areas.
Students are selected for the Bilingual program based on a language screening. Parents must give their consent in order for their children to be enrolled in the program. District 87 provides transportation for students in the bilingual program.

District 87 ESL Program
District 87 provides English as a Second Language services to students with limited English proficiency. This program is house at Stevenson Elementary School and Oakland Elementary School. ESL students are enrolled in general education classrooms. During the school day, they receive services from highly qualified English as a Second Language teachers.
Students are selected for the ESL program based on a language screening. Parents must give their consent in order for their children to be enrolled in the program. District 87 provides transportation as needed for students in the ESL program.
