BLOOMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
NAMED ONE OF THE BEST IN U.S.
Bloomington High School has been named one of the best high schools in the
country by U.S. News & World Report for the second year in a row. The rankings, announced in December
2009, were the result of analyzing data for more than 21,000 high schools in 48
states.
According to the US News & World Report website, the methodology for
determining the best high schools is based on the principle that a great high
school serves all its students well, not just those who go on to college.
Schools were also required to demonstrate that they successfully educated
students across a range of performance indicators.
US News & World Report,
with School Education Services, looked at whether schools performed better than
state averages on standardized tests; factored in the school’s percentage of
economically disadvantaged students; looked at whether the least-advantaged
students performed better than average for their peers throughout the state; and
looked at how well students are prepared, academically, for college.
