Welcome to a new school year!

Please welcome our new staff members.

  • Mr. Mattson joins Mrs. Uhren in the ESL program.

  • Mrs. Romer and Miss Schroeder will be our new PE teachers.

  • Mrs Conroy is returning this year and will be teaching first grade.

  • While Mrs. O'Brian is not new to our school, she has a new name!
Formerly Miss McMillan, she was married early in the summer.

  • Another new face at Oakland is Mrs. Fritcher.  You will find her greeting students and families as the new member of the office staff.

Sadly, we said goodbye to a long-time employee as she started a new chapter in her life.  After working at Oakland School for nearly 20 years, Mrs. Younger moved back to her home state of Oregon.  She will be missed!

Oakland Elementary School is one of six elementary schools in District 87.  Our 490 students are served in grades kindergarten through five and reflect a rich cultural mix.  Our staff of over 40 professionals provides a safe and enriching environment for all students.  Many innovative programs have been initiated over the years and teachers are encouraged to embrace new strategies.  Climate builders such as the Annual Back to School Picnic, Family Reading Night, and the Multicultural Fair have established a positive and caring environment in the school that encourages and promotes participation, learning and success.
