"No. Six School Building, formerly known as 'The Old Barn School' was located at the corner of West (now Roosevelt) and Walnut from which place they would move in 1870 to the corner of Walnut and Livingston. Photographed in 1876, Bloomington, Illinois."
These two buildings, affectionately referred to as 'The Old Barn School' were originally located at the site of the current Bent (Hawthorne School), but were moved as the 1870 Hawthorne School was constructed. They were moved just a short distance west – across the I.C.C. tracks – to the corner of W. Walnut and Livingston Sts. and served as the No. Six School (Sheridan) until both structures burned to the ground in 1879. A new brick, Sheridan School replaced 'The Old Barn School.'
