Stevensonville School (later replaced and renamed Raymond School) was built in 1888 at a cost of $5,000. It contained four rooms and a basement and was located in the southwest part of the city named "Stevensonville" on Stevenson Street (near Euclid and Grove Streets). The school's name was later changed to Raymond School in honor of former Superintendent, Sarah E. Raymond. This building was replaced in 1931 with the help of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Its present location sits just one block south from its original location – on the corner of Olive and Magoun Streets.
