On the morning of March 7, 1932, Jefferson School burned to the ground. The school originally served as Bloomington High School from 1897 through 1917. When the high school moved to its new location on the corner of Washington and McLean Streets, the high school was converted and used as Jefferson School. After the fire, Jefferson School was rebuilt and served as an elementary school in until the 1970s, when it was converted into the district's administration and Board office.
