District 87 Sesquicentennial Events & Programs
April 5, 2007
District 87 began its year-long Sesquicentennial birthday celebration on Thursday, April 5,
2007, with 30-minute long school-wide assemblies at the district's elementary schools.
The assemblies featured actor portrayals, a video on the history of the district, and birthday cookies and pencils for each student.
During the assemblies, BHS' Drama II students presented five different plays. The 15-minute plays highlighted a historical figure associated with a particular District 87 elementary school.
Each play began with a young student who had to write a report for her school celebration. While attempting to work late into the night, she falls asleep and is visited by the historical figure that is the central figure of her report.
