Using standardized test scores and guidance by Bloomington High School, eighth grade teachers have placed students in the level of class most suitable for each student. Those recommendations in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science appear on the course selection form given to each student by his or her counselor. Students and families wishing to have an extra copy of this form will find one here. Please note that this form will not include the recommendations made by a student's teachers.

Power Point Presentations Classroom Use A power point presentation offering students and families information and guidance about preparing for high school is available in PDF format and MS Power Point format. This presentation contains information about specific classes available for freshman as well as general information to assist students in understanding how a high school system works. This presentation is used in the classroom during the high school registration process in January. This power point presentation was used during the eighth grade open house in August. It offers parents and guardians an overview of the registration process as well as an understanding of the role played by parents and guardians in selecting courses.

Envisioning the
Future: Four Year Plans Eighth grade students select courses for their Freshman year. Deb Stevenson, Bloomington High School Counselor, has prepared Four Year Plan templates that offer students a look at the classes in which they are likely to be enrolled during their Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years based on these selections. Copies of the basic plans are made available to eighth graders during registration activities in January. The basic plans, as well as those reflecting more specific choices, are available here, in Adobe Acrobat format. Interactive templates, allowing users to explore future consequences of class choices, are available here. Note: When opening this file, a pop-up box will typically appear. Users will need to click "Enable macros", in order for the interactive spreadsheet to open and work properly. Pre-set security levels may make it necessary to follow the following procedure in order to use this file:
Open Exel: Go to "Tools">Macros>Security Plans included are as follows (Titles reflect level of classes) : All Honors, All Regular, Essentials (Remedial level), Honors Math and Science, Honors English, All Honors & Spanish, All Regular and Band, Regular & Art, Honors and French and Band, Regular and Spanish and Art, Bloomington Academy.
