Reading at Home

These are websites that you can visit at home that will help your child become an even better reader than they are today.  The electronic books, poems, and short stories can be used in a variety of ways:

• Some of the stories are interactive and they require that your child be involved as they  read the story.

• Some stories can be read a loud to the child so that they can listen and enjoy the story without having to worry about sounding out each word and instead can focus on comprehending the events and facts being presented.

• Other stories will only read certain words that the child highlights as words they are having difficulty with.  These types of stories will help your child move from being a dependent reader to an independent reader.  As they become a better readers the less they will need to click on words.

• Jog the Web is a fun step by step way your child can visit different reading sites in a safe way.

Any text or story that you decide to read with your child or any text they decide to read independently will only further their literacy development!
