Scientific Method
- OBSERVE:
Scientists use their five senses to find out about objects, events, and
living things.
- CLASSIFY:
Scientists classify things based on how they are alike or not alike.
- ESTIMATE & MEASURE:
Scientist
use two ways to measure. They use standard measurement (inch, ounce,
meter, pound,
etc) and nonstandard measurement (measuring with paperclips, pencils,
straws, etc).
- INFER:
Scientists draw a conclusion or make a guess from what they already know.
- PREDICT: First
scientists tell what they think will happen. Then they do an
experiment.
- MAKE & USE MODELS:
Scientists often make and use models to represent or learn about real
things.
- MAKE DEFINITIONS:
Scientists use what they know to
tell what something means.
