Hello, my name is Kimberly Carthans. I am approaching my fourteenth year of teaching at Oakland Elementary School. I have taught both first and second grade at Oakland School.

My hometown is Peoria, Illinois. I currently reside in Normal, IL with my husband, Erik, and my two daughters, Raven and Jade. Jade is 6 years old and Raven is 9 years old. Jade is in first grade and Raven is in fourth grade.

My educational background extends from classroom teaching to serving as the former director of CHALK Preschool. I attended Illinois State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary education and a Master's Degree in Reading education.

My hobbies are going to the movies, walking, Zumba, and reading children's picture books. I am so excited to be teaching at Oakland school!

Our T.E.A.M.S. binders stand for "Together Everyone Achieves Management Skills." Please review the contents of your child's binder each evening for important notes, reminders, and weekly homework.

Team Tribune:
Our Team Tribune newsletter is sent home each Friday in your child's T.E.A.M.S. Binder. Your child's behavior scorecard for the week will be attached to the newsletter.

Spelling Tests:
Our spelling post-test will routinely occur on Thursdays. Our spelling pre-test with words for the following week will routinely occur on Friday.
