THIS PROJECT IS DUE ON April 18.  IT MUST BE TURNED IN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CLASS WHEN THE TEACHER ASKS FOR IT.  ANY REPORT NOT TURNED IN AT THIS TIME WILL BE GIVEN A ZERO.  THE PROJECT MAY BE TURNED IN ANYTIME BEFORE THIS DATE.

Directions:

Make a scrapbook which will represent the life’s work of a scientist.  This scrapbook will be graded according to the following criteria:

40 points: research in library and computer lab.  You will receive 10 points for each day we do research.  If you are working you get the full points, if you are not working I will take points away.

8 points:  a cover sheet containing your name, the due date, class period,

                  scientist name.

120 points: Use at least 5 facts from the scientists personal life and 7 form his/her scientific endeavors to make 12 artifacts ( pages).  Each artifact is worth 10 points.  An explanation of the artifact must be present.  You may only have one of each type of artifact.

          Examples of artifacts:

           A. Pictures of the scientists, experiments, inventions, equipment, etc.

(you may draw, Xerox, or trace these.) These should be neat and

                 Colorful.

           B. Newspaper articles: write a story which would report an award or

Discovery of your scientist or another scientist that influenced

Your scientist.  You could also write a story about an event that

Occurred in the world affected the scientists life or how the

                Scientists discoveries affected the world.

          C. Example of a certificate the scientist might have been awarded.

You could also make examples of report cards, birth, death, or

               Marriage certificates.

           D. You could make receipts or ticket stubs which he/she might have

Had from science exhibitions or award ceremonies.

           E. Make pages from journals, research records in lab books, or

Letters and memos communicating with other scientists.

These are just examples. Use your imagination to come up with artifacts for your scrapbook! The facts must be true and accurate.

72 points: The fact sheet must be attached at the end of the scrapbook.  This must be neat.  The bibliography must be filled out.  Have fun!
