Directions for personal web site. 1. Choose one of the three layout templates pictured at the following links 2. On the G-art saver there are 3 folders. Each one contains one of the 3 styles. Copy the folder of your choice to your section folder. 3. Re-name the folder "your_name_web" Use your first_last_web just as pictured. 4. Re-name the template index.html. 5. Make a new folder inside the web folder and call it "images." All of your JPEG images will be stored in here. 6. Make another folder and call it "media" This will be for sound clips and movies. 7. Make sure you save all parts of your web site in the correct folder. Define your site - It is very important that you do each step correctly! 1. Make sure your folder is named correctly. 2. Make sure you have saved your index page in the folder. 3. You also need a folder called images, and one called media. 4. Pull down the site menu and go to new site. 5. Give the site a name. It does not matter what you name your site. 6. Click the little icon of a file. 7. Navigate to your web folder and select it. 8. Click the box that is labled "cache" 9. Click "OK" Portrait 1. Take your picture with the digital camera 2. Put your picture on the g-art saver and then put it in your section folder. 3. Crop the picture to the exact size in pixels as the box on the template. 4. You may make a collage out of your picture provided you don't spend more than one class period making it. 5. Import the picture to your index page. Links 1.You will need to create 14 links for your personal page. 2. 10 for the word links (and you may change them to whatever you want) 3. 4 links for the roll overs 4. All links should be to pages that show the projects you have created in this class or personal art works 5. One link will be a contact link which will be used so people can e-mail you. 6. One link will be to a page of your favorite links on the world wide web Color scheme 1. You may use the color scheme provided on the templates, or you may create your own. 2. Stick with the color scheme throughout your web site. Roll overs 1. Use photoshop to create the correct side graphics for your roll overs. They must be exactly the same size in pixels at the boxes on the templates. 2. Give each image a name and then add the word none for the first image and over for the roll over image. EXAMPLE: bunny_none.jpeg EXAMPLE: bunny_over.jpeg Notice the use of the underline. 3. Save them in the images folder. 4. When you import your pictures into the roll over, you may add the link in the last field. Making a template 1. Make a new file that uses some of the same colors, shapes and style as your index page. 2. Copy and paste your navigation bar into the new file. 3. Pull down the file menu and go to "save as template" 4. Designate layers in your template as "editable" Do this by pulling down Modify>Templates>Mark selection or region as editable 5. Make all of the links on your navigation bar - Highlight each word, then type the appropriate file name in the link box. Using templates 1. File>new from template 2. Import all necessary graphics and other info 3. Save and give the correct name. The name should match the names you gave to the links on the navigation bar.
