How to print using the HP500ps

The poster printer is a post script printer. This means it prints using post script computer language.

Because of this, you must prepare your documents so the printer can understand the information it gets from the computer.

Steps

  1. When you know your design is completely finished, spell check then convert all type to outlines.
  2. Save your document with the outlines.
  3. Put the jump drive into the USB port in the back of your computer.
  4. To remove the jump drive, drag it into the trash.
  5. Insert the jump drive into computer 24. (You must remove the printer cable to do this)
  6. Computer 24 must be operating in system 9 (classic) in order for it to work.
  7. Drag your document and all attached photos to the folder on the desktop call "class posters"
  8. Remove jump drive and replace printer cable.
  9. Open your document in illustrator and do a "save as"
  10. Save it as an EPS (encapsulated post script)
  11. Close the document.
  12. Open the printer software located on the desktop.
  13. Drag the EPS file on to the window.
  14. Double click on your document in the printer window
  15. Where it says "no preview" pop that up and go to layout preview.
  16. Click the fit to media button and close window
  17. Click the send button (arrows)
