Comic Book

Directions: Create a 4 page comic book using the following applications

• Photo Booth-to take pictures using COMIC effect
• Photoshop-to convert pictures to a "comic book dot" effect
• Comic Life- to assemble your pages
• In Design-to assemble your book

Steps:

1. Take pictures using a digital camera
2. Download this ACTION and double click on it to install it into photoshop
3. Convert pictures to "comic effect" using photoshop
   1. Open picture in photoshop
   2. If the picture is a .gif, you must do the following step first. Image>mode>RGB
   3. Image>adjustments>posterize (4 colors)
   4. Filter>Pixelate>color halftone (settings for color halftone should be 45° for all four angles. Pixel size will vary, but will be somewhere in the range between 4 and 15)
4. Drag pictures into COMIC LIFE to make your story
5. Print book and staple together

Grading: .

1. The book will be 12 pages
   • page 1 is the cover
   • page 2 can be ads or story
   • pages 3 through 10 will be the story
   • page 11 can be ads or story
   • page 12 back cover can be any full-size picture
2. Roughly 1/3 of your pictures should be taken with the camera, 1/3 photo booth, and 1/3 from the internet or clipart.com
3. You can work in groups taking pictures and creating a story, but each student must create his own layout (book)
