There is no forumula for putting together a magazine layout. see example

To make your magazine interesting visually use the following design elements

Bold headlines both color and B&W
Bold subheads also in color and B&W
Subheads can be within the text or separating paragraphs
Subheads can be on top of photos as long as they are legible
Various shapes used to help contain type or move viewer's eyes
Rectangular shapes used for hold type or separate type
- black with with type
- white with black type
- other colors
Photos
Photos used as background
Bleed (ink runs to edge of paper)
Text wrap
Captions (should be a different type that what is used for body text)
Body text should have additional leading (space between lines of type)
