Dual credit syllabus documentation- DMED I DMEDII

This class is a vocational training class designed to prepare the student for the world of work. It is specific to the area of Digital Media and Graphic Design. Our overall goal is to learn how to communicate visually using basic principles of design and visual syntax.

Four phases of instruction

1. Instruction including lecture, notes, written work, videos etc.

2. Demonstration

3. Testing

4. Lab activities

Grading

• Grading is based on the following areas. Specific grading details are outlined for each project, quiz or activity.
  • Tests and quizzes.
  • Lab projects.
  • Portfolio
• Late work will be penalized. If more than 2 weeks late, the project is worth half credit.
• If it is more than 4 weeks late the project will not be accepted expect for extreme circumstanses.
• Work due and turned in during my absence can not be turned in.

Standards and expectations will be higher for second year students.

Class rules

Y'know what? You've been in school for a while now. I think you know the rules, but here's a few specifics for my classroom.

1. No youtube
2. Don't move the chairs
3. No cell phones or texting
4. No talking while I'm talking. Pay attention.
5. Don't disrupt class.
6. Be in your seat ,facing forward, paying attention and quiet when
7. class begins.
8. No food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
9. Keep hands, feet, objects, and personal remarks to yourself
10. Don’t leave the room without a hall pass
11. Read and obey the BHS/AVC acceptable technology use policy
12. Respect the equipment

Grading policy

• Daily work - Tutorials, work done together in class, etc. Counts for roughly 1/4 of your semester grade. Can't be made up.
• Project work - These are described as projects that you work on individually. Usually these projects will take several days. Can be made up after school if you have an approved absence
• Tests and quizzes - Just like last semester. Only a few and worth about 1/4 of your grade.
