Comic Fill
Comics were once colored using a old technique called rubylith. Today comics are color on computers using photoshop. The end result is a much higher quality graphic and more flexibilty.

Using the new techniques, comic artists are able to create a greater degree of realism to their images.

In addition, colors are very easily changed using the new digital technology

Todays comics are sometimes called "graphic novels" and can sell for as much as $25 and more. Many comic book stories are being made into live-action movies and comics are now part of a multi-billion dollar a year business.

 

Instructions:

  • download zip file
  • copy unzipped folder into your H drive
  • Open the file called "capWolverine.psd
  • Begin using the pen tool to color the parts of the drawing including:
    • wolverine
      • pants
      • shirt
      • his belt,
      • gloves,
      • boots,
      • shoulder pads,
    • Captain america
      • shirt top,
      • gloves,
      • stripes,
      • pants,
      • boots
      • both their arms and faces
  • Using new layers, add shading and highlights
    • you will need a yellow, white and black layer for this
    • Keep your layers organized!
  • On the background layer use the layer effect of gradient fill from red-yellow-red. Then paint over the middle with white to open the white parts of the shield, claws, swipe marks.
