!Hola! I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in a very small town called Foster City in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is funny that "City" is part of this town's name because it is one of the smallest towns I've ever been too. It is not a "city" at all! I grew up there with my wonderful parents and my three sisters. I left Foster City when I graduated from high school in 1997 and four years later graduated from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota (2001) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language Education.
After graduating, I spent four years teaching at Escuela Puente de Esperanza (Bridge of Hope School) in Reynosa, Mexico. I lived at a children's home called Rio Bravo Hogar de Niņos where the school was also located. I got to spend a lot of time caring for children there who did not have parents who could take care of them. I also got to be their teacher! I taught them English and they taught me Spanish. It was a great deal! I loved the time I got to live and teach in Mexico.
In the Fall of 2005, I moved to Bloomington, Illinois when I got a teaching position with Bloomington District 87. My first teaching position was with the ELL Program in the district (05/06) and I have had my current teaching position with the bilingual program at Bent Elementary the past two school years (06/07 and 07/08). I love teaching at Bent!
This past December (2007) I got married. The picture below is a picture of me and my husband Don. We both really like to work and live here in Bloomington/Normal.
I hope you feel like you know me a little better!
