Daily Homework
Reading: Students are expected to read 15 to 30 minutes per day outside of school. Evidence of outside reading will be demonstrated by taking and passing Reading Counts quizzes. Students can choose books to read at their lexile level that have quizzes in our computer system at school. Students are expected to earn 25 points per quarter by taking and passing these quizzes. Rewards are given for every 25 points earned.
Spelling: Students should practice spelling words for the week.
Math: Students should practice basic addition or subtraction facts in preparation for timed tests during the first semester. Then they should practice multiplication tables during the second semester. Students should be able to recall the product for each basic fact in 3 seconds or less. Students may use flash cards, games, or computer activities for practice.
Other: Any unfinished assignments from the school day should be completed for homework. All work is due at 9:00 am the next day.
Weekly Homework
Monday: Spelling sentences. Students writes spelling words in sentences that show they understand the meaning of each word.
Tuesday: Language Arts homework given at school.
Wednesday: Science or Social Studies homework given at school.
Science: Students may have "Science online" to complete for homework occasionally. In the cover of each student's assignment book is a label with the website, username, and password. You may get to the site here: http://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com
Thursday: Math homework given at school.
Monthly Homework
Book report projects are assigned Quarterly. The First Quarter Book Report is due on Thursday, October 7th.
