ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOK
Please see and sign your child's assignment notebook
every night. Students are rewarded with Fun Friday time for completed
work and signed notebooks. The message box is a great place for us to
communicate. Look for upcoming tests and due dates for projects on this
page, too!
GRADED PAPERS
Graded papers will come home every Friday attached to my weekly
classroom newsletter. Any classwork below 75% that your child corrects
over the weekend must be returned on Mondays for re-grading. Keep in
mind that I will only re-grade classwork, and I will only re-grade it
once. If you see "Parent Signature" on one of your child's papers, I
would like you to sign the page and have your child return it on Monday.
SCIENCE TEXTBOOK ONLINE
Access the science textbook and do practice activities
at this site. Your child has a username and password to log on.
Don't forget to read the Leveled Readers I have assigned on this site as
well.

them for two weeks. Please help your child store these books in a
safe place at home. Encourage him/her to read every evening and
use the due date slip to know when to return them. |
SRI
The Scholastic
"Reading
Counts" program is designed to increase reading
motivation and improve student comprehension. Students can choose books
to read at individual lexile levels which are determined by the
Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) computer test that they take
quarterly. The third grade lexile range is 500-800. This is where
third graders should be reading. Students with lower lexiles are
reading below grade level expectations. Students with higher lexiles
are reading above grade level expectations.
READING COUNTS
Students are expected to earn 25 or more
points per quarter by taking and passing Reading Counts quizzes at
school. There is no option for taking quizzes at home. Students
can check their RC progress at any time by logging on to the Reading
Counts system in our classroom or school library. Points earned are
displayed on our class bulletin board “The Reading Race.” Rewards
(certificate, pencil, bookmark, food coupons, free book, etc.) are given
for every 25 points earned. I will send home Scholastic Reading
Inventory (SRI) and Reading Counts (RC) reports every quarter with
report cards. Thank you in advance for working with your child and
supporting this program.
