A ball is placed on the end of a string that is tied to a support. This ball is free to swing through an arc when released. (see picture at left). Now a rod is placed a vertical distance "r" above the lowest point the ball reaches. Determine the height "h" the ball must be released above the lowest point so that when the string contacts the rod, the ball continues around the smaller vertical circle.
