All About Mrs. Gilbert

I would like to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Laura Gilbert and this is my thirteenth year teaching.  I taught First Grade at St. Mary’s School in Bloomington from 1995-1996.  I then moved to Holy Trinity Elementary in Bloomington and taught First Grade there from 1996-2005.  After that, I stayed home for three years to be with my family. During that time, I also did home daycare for four other children.  I returned to teaching, in 2008, at Stevenson Elementary.  I am now beginning my third year as a First Grade Teacher at Stevenson.   My bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University.

I was born and raised in Bloomington and most of my family still resides in this area.  I am married to Zack Gilbert, a Sixth Grade Teacher at Parkside Junior High School.  We have two children; Grace who is in Fifth Grade, and Emma is in First.  We also have a puppy named “Buddy”.

Some of my hobbies include: gardening, reading, going to movies, riding bikes with my children, shopping, and my most favorite is just spending time with my family and friends.

Communication is very important to me.  Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.  You can reach me at school (663-2351) or send me an email at: gilbertl@district87.org
